I just wanted to write and say what a wonderful holiday my family and I had at your villa in Caimeli. It was so relaxing and enjoyable. The wine was excellent and although (due to the wedding and family commitments) we did not have enough time to get to the vineyard you recommended we do plan to revisit next year!
Thank you so much for your gift, we did manage to buy wine to bring home and next time my husband and I plan to drive down and spend more time if your villa is available next year for rental. The scenery was out of this world and very quickly we got into the Umbrian rhythem and it was a pleasure to meet Martina and Carlo- there was a lot of laughing and fun and an excellent meal- they were very attentive and made it more special than we could of imagined. Adriano was very good and made sure we had all we needed. The only mistake we made was getting a bit lost on the Sunday and missing the supermarket so next time if we traveled on a Sunday I would be more organized. We managed to find a restaurant that had a family Baptism and although they were closed they gave cheese/meat/pasta/bread etc so it was a great start to a wonderful holiday. The Umbrian food is delightful and we all gained weight.
I explained to Peter that unfortunately 1 mug was broken but we bought 2 new ones. The house is very well equipped and the views are3 stunning- some of us walked and the rest enjoyed the poolside and sitting reading on the verandas. To be honest we only slept in the house and everything else was outside even though the weather was a little cool at the beginning of the week. The BBQ area was ideal for us.
Thank you for arranging the microwave this was a big help to my daughter and it made her life much easier and thank you for your kind assistance and help prior to our stay.
Please pass on our regards to all. We did not make it to Carlo’s jazz bar so this is on our agenda for our next visit!. I have made recommendations to our friends so you may see more enquiries for rental!

This last week in Caimeli was wonderful. Each of us found what we were looking for. I loved exploring some of the historic sights in the area- Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio- and going on long walks on and around Caimeli. Damian very much enjoyed tennis, swimming and running ( which the views made so unique). The little ones lived in their bathing suits and had no shortage of adventures among the olives and fig trees. With delicious Italian foods Umbertide had to offer. The mix of rustic feeling and modern comfort make this place so special. The memory of the view onto a landscape basically untouched by civilization will be a pleasure while passing through the winter in Germany.
Thank you very much for everything

James, Helen and Norman,
Wow!!! Our time at your beautiful Umbrian home exceeded our expectations in every way. From the sweet taste of the freshly picked figs warmed by the sun to our amazing view of the Milky Way while lying on your pool deck, our vacation in Italy was special in every way. We cannot thank you enough for all of your warm hospitality. The guest house is spacious, modern and historically charming. The view from our porch is amazing, creating unforgettable mealtime memories. Our slice of paradise will be forever treasured in our family memories.
Thanks sooo much

Dear James and Family,
We would like to thank you so much for the most wonderful holiday location that we could have wished for. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we arrived. It felt as though we had arrived in heaven. We had the most fantastic time and the gardener was kind enough to give us some of your produce of which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We have taken many photos and video, not only so we can remember this wonderful place, but also to recommend it to others. It’s so hard to leave here but thank you so much again.

Italian food heaven and yoga bliss
A wonderful setting with amazing vegetarian food freshly prepared daily. Meat lovers in our party did not crave meat at all, and dietary requirements were catered for.
The time of year (end April) meant the yoga studio couldn’t be used as it was too cold, although the owner has plans to use solar energy to heat this so retreats outside of Summer can benefit from using this wonderful space. The house is designed to withstand the heat of Summer so take layers/warm clothes if you are visiting Spring/Autumn.

Wonderful location, amazing vegetarian food!!
Wonderful location, amazing vegetarian food!!
I had a long weekend here on a yoga retreat. The food was really amazing, fresh local Italian fare, but with a great flavorsome twist, hints of Morocco. The views are great and the house spacious. It is set off the nearby road, so you wouldn’t know the house and grounds are there unless you were directed. It’s a long but enjoyable walk down into Umbertide. Car probably helpful for most, but not essential if you want to get away from it all.

Eat, stretch and breathe A retreat at Caimeli is close to what it must feel like to be in heaven
Eat, stretch and breathe
A retreat at Caimeli is close to what it must feel like to be in heaven. The food is just amazing. James treats cooking like an art and is extremely skilled at it. He uses local, organic, seasonal produce and makes everything from scratch. We dined on home-made Middle Eastern dips, Asian soups, European desserts and home-made Italian lasagna (vegetarian, of course!). Then there is the fresh air and sound of birds. Situated far from the road, you don’t hear anything but nature. At night time, everything is completely quiet and after a day of yoga, hiking, meditating, eating nourishing food, and lazing around with a book on the lawn – you sleep like a baby (or an exhausted adult, retreating from the world). It’s a really great experience. The only word of warning I have is that in spring and autumn, the house is still quite cold from the winter. So, bring your warm layers with you!

Master Chef a sorpresa ( come innamorarsi della cucina vegana)
The first weekend of October I joined a 3 full day Yoga Retreat in beautiful Caimeli and, despite the hectic daily routine life that followed since those days, I can still feel the benefits of the experience and of this amazing place. In fact, I realized on my way home on Sunday, not only the good Yoga, the great teacher, the nice company and the amazing massages made the weekend unique.
Caimeli is filled with its own unique energy and James the owner allows you to discover it with your own times. I must say, the biggest surprise in fact was him and his delicious recipes. As one of the girls was vegan James prepared special recipes and every meal was a pleasant new surprise.
We fell in love with his cuisine and while practicing we could smell it… we couldn’t wait to know what he had prepared! ( I want to go back to learn how to cook vegan food, a real new world to me) The location is strategic, you are literally in the meddle of the greener country and the only things you hear are birds, bees, roosters, horses…
The village is not far and I am sure a pleasant walk can take you there in no more than 20 minutes. The casale is big, comfortable, clean with simple but stylish and essential furniture.
Shower is great as well as the beds. It rained the whole time and it was humid outside, but still the place was super cozy. On the last day the sun came out and I can still see James waiving good bye to us with sweet Tia ( the smiling dog ! ) seating next to him.
Grazie James I will surely be back !!
I am a yoga teacher based in Rome.
The reason why I was @ Caimeli is to run my yoga retreat there. The location and scenery just ideal and beautiful.
The space where we practice yoga is the essence, calm and humble, props and mat are provided and good quality.
Everyone has appreciated the smell of the lavender right next to the swimming pool.
Rooms are simple but sweet. You can’t complain about inserts as they are part of nature and countryside.
We required vegetarian and vegan meals, wow… they were so creative and yummy.
Amazing yoga holiday
Amazing yoga holiday with Kat & James
This is truly one of the most beautiful amazing places I’ve ever been.
I loved my visit here where I sampled local food and wines that were out of this world.
James made me feel very welcome and the house is absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed the yoga with Kat in the rustic barn next to the beautiful pool every day.
I would 100% recommend this amazing place & would like to return someday!
Relaxing Escape in the Hills
Relaxing Escape in the Hills
We visited Caimeli as part of a yoga retreat and had an amazing time. The retreat itself is in beautiful surroundings approx 2.5 hours from Rome. During our stay we went to Tuscany to do wine tasting (which I fully recommend) plus we were close to the nearby town, Umbertide which is definitely worth a visit.
The accommodation was good, we stayed in the separate farmhouse building and had a good sized room with en suite. We had a kitchen and living room area which we could have used but didn’t need to as James cooked breakfast and an evening meal for us all in the main house.
The food was amazing, I can’t recommend it enough, made with fresh ingredients and cooked by James daily. Each evening meal was 3 courses. My personal favourite was the hand made gnocchi and the homemade panna cotta (it was the best I have ever tasted!) There was fresh fruit available all day, along with a selection of hot drinks.
James was always offering to take people to town / wine tasting etc, we didn’t need to as we had hired a car but the offer was always there.
Now on to the yoga.. Catie was awesome!!! A great teacher and she catered for everyone’s individual ability at all different levels. My boyfriend is more advanced than me at yoga and I was worried that I would not be able to keep up, but Catie would give different options for each move and you are able to stick with the beginner level or advance further depending on capability.
Every day Catie would ask us all what we wanted to work on and would add these into the classes. My boyfriend wanted to learn more around handstands and had lots of questions etc which Catie would answer throughout the class and also after the classes too. I found Catie to be incredibly skilled at her role, she was able to demonstrate moves, talk people through them and made everyone feel welcome and at ease. I am definitely planning a second retreat.
Thank you to Catie and James for an excellent retreat, I have come home feeling relaxed and peaceful.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt so much
